For the most part, I love to get out and just do "random sh*t". (It's not a curse word if I didn't spell it out completely.) And sometimes, I like to do that stuff at 4am. (eww not really.) That's the time I woke up to pack and drive down to the Calvert Cliffs in Southern Maryland to meet up with Andie for our "Hey lets make something pretty for no reason" Saturday morning.
For those that don't know, Andie is the super talented co-owner of "Costola Photography", a husband and wife team that delivers ahhhh-mazing wedding & portrait images. If you haven't already, drop what you're doing, and go check out their work!
Okay, so its always a little intimidating taking photos of another photographer. What if they think you suck? What if they're secretly snickering at how you positioned them in the light?! What if they hate your editing!?? Well, alllllll of that got thrown out the window the second Andie and I started off on our 30 minute hike to get to the beach.
Let me tell you guys, it was a breath of fresh air to be able to open up about all the struggles of running a business. We shared our favorite artists, hilarious photography stories as well as horror stories, our very best tips and tricks for getting kids to cooperate, things we say to make our clients laugh, and bounced ideas and strategies off each other. I feel so unbelievably lucky to have the opportunity to work with individuals that value community over competition, and are always there for support and guidance. You guys, Andie hiked ALL the way out there with me, just so I could get some extra portrait practice in, and she hadn't even had her coffee yet. #mvpforrealz
In these images, I simply wanted to invoke the glorious idea of taking in a still moment for yourself. Just finding enjoyment in a good book, a glass of wine, and the serenity of the ocean. (In a fancy dress in the sand, because.. that's what we do that right?) Here are some of my favorites:
